“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Skip Sunday!!!

The day after Georgia and Auburn win combined with Florida and Alabama losing is a skip Sunday because it makes me so happy, I skip down the driveway to retreive the Sunday fish-wrapper so I can read about it all.

The Entitlement Nation

Think we live in a welfare nanny state now?

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 "baby bond" from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.
Clinton, her party's front-runner in the 2008 race, made the suggestion during a forum hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus.

"I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time, so that when that young person turns 18 if they have finished high school they will be able to access it to go to college or maybe they will be able to make that downpayment on their first home," she said.

The New York senator did not offer any estimate of the total cost of such a program or how she would pay for it. Approximately 4 million babies are born each year in the United States.

My wife just did he math on this since Hillary didn't want you to know the price tag...that's $20billion per year. Billion with a "b". Guess who pays for that? The same people who pay for all fabulous cash and prizes that get handed out to the shiftless degenerates who'd rather take some of what somebody else earned, instead of earn it themselves.

Wait 'till Hillary gets elected queen. You will see America plunge from a wealthy nation based on the accomplishments and rights of the individual, into a collection of minority tribes clamoring for ever greater government handouts, paid for by the shrinking productive class.

Get with the program people

Is it that you people already know who you're voting for or are you just too lazy to click on over and take the candidate calculator test. It only takes like 3 minutes. You don't have to use your real name when you report back, be anonymous or make one up. I thought this would be a fun, interesting exercise given the current political climate. So head on over to The Candidate Calculator and tell the group how it turned out.

The criminalization of thought

You are not going to believe this next story. It epitomizes the awfulness of hate-crime legislation...

Police are considering charging a 10-year-old boy with a race hate crime after he was beaten by a Slovakian woman with an iron bar.

Jake Stedman needed hospital treatment after the attack in Chatham on Friday, when he was allegedly beaten around the head and neck after being chased down an alley, and was left with two black eyes.

But police are now looking into claims from the 35-year-old woman who allegedly attacked him and who is currently on police bail, that he made racist remarks by telling her “to go back to her own country”.

Since when is a Slovak considered a minority such that they enjoy special protected class? I thought that was reserved only for Muslims. Furthermore, since when do the cops arrest 10 year olds for name-calling? I guess since the kooky, PC, gang took control of the U.K. What a disaster of a catastrophe of a calamity of a country our motherland has turned out to be!

Huntsvegas....leading the way

I'm sure elitist liberals all over the country are getting a chuckle from this story while they sip their $9 Starbucks double, half/half, de-caff lattes this morning, but they were the same people who, during the Clinton years, were chuckling at the idea that Al-Qaeda might successfully fly airplanes into national landmarks...

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - In an age of al-Qaida, sleeper cells and the threat of nuclear terrorism, Huntsville is dusting off its Cold War manual to create the nation's most ambitious fallout-shelter plan, featuring an abandoned mine big enough for 20,000 people to take cover underground.
Others would hunker down in college dorms, churches, libraries and research halls that planners hope will bring the community's shelter capacity to 300,000, or space for every man, woman and child in Huntsville and the surrounding county.
Emergency planners in Huntsville - an out-of-the-way city best known as the home of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center - say the idea makes sense because radioactive fallout could be scattered for hundreds of miles if terrorists detonated a nuclear bomb.

I don't think this is a bad idea. I'm not sure pouring millions of tax dollars into new construction is money well-spent but if they can make existing shelters operational, why not? We know the terrorists will eventually get a nuclear weapon of some sort. It's not a matter of if, but of when. The guy is right too, Huntsville might not be the target but fallout will involve thousands of downwind square miles.

Candidate Calculator

OK kids, with no incumbent or VP running for CiC, there are a slew of candidates from both parties in the mosh pit of american politics throwing elbows here and kicking shins there. There are so many choices that sometimes it's difficult to know how to narrow it down. Well there's a site where you can answer a few pertinent questions about issues and it will tell you which candidate you match up with best. I took the test and though I claimed to be voting for Guiliani, it told me I matched up best with Thompson based on the issues that were most important to me and which side I was on. This'll be fun. Everybody go to the Candidate Calculator and take the test. It only takes like 3 minutes. You waste more of your employer's time than that looking at this web site. Report back as always in the comments section and tell us how you did.

Katie shows her true colors

Just when you thought Katie Couric couldn't do anything to plunge her TV ratings any lower, yesterday at the National Press Club the perky news reader admitted what very few news media personalities are willing to admit....that is, that they are virulently anti-American and report the news as such. Katie whined...

"The whole culture of wearing flags on our lapel and saying "we" when referring to the United States and, even the "shock and awe" of the initial stages, it was just too jubilant and just a little uncomfortable."

Generally a citizen of a country takes the side of their country when at war. But not liberals. They never miss a chance to take the side of our enemies. Bashing your own country and ridiculing the patriotism of it's citizens might curry favor with Hollywood nitwits and terrorists, but patriotic Americans who watch news every evening might not care for it.
The good news for Katie is that even if her comments cut her number of viewers in half, she'll still have three.

It's Ann Coulter Thursday!

This week Ann weighs in on the hubbub over Ahmadinnerjacket speaking at Columbia. President Bollinger claimed Columbia had a long standing tradition of encouraging robust debate and free speech but whenever petulant, spoiled Columbia students violently attack conservative speakers and run them physically off campus, Bollinger defends their "right" to free speech. But for the Breck Girl, Bollinger would have won hypocrite of the week. Ann blasts the liberal elitist hacks that pass themselves off as educators with typical sarcasm and wit. Check it out here.

Third strike?

Just when you thought Michael Vick couldn't do anything more stupid to destroy his career, there's this...

The disgraced Atlanta Falcons quarterback tested positive for marijuana earlier this month, a violation of the conditions of his release as he awaits sentencing in federal court on a dogfighting charge that already jeopardizes his freedom and career.

His first strike was not winning enough and being unable or unwilling to adapt to a different style of offense. His second strike, obviously was the dog fighting and gambling thing. Even at that point, if he showed contrition and jumped through the requisite hoops, the fans would welcome him back with open arms. But to get high knowing that you will get busted, since sobriety is a condition of bail I believe.

Man what an idiot. He just lost whatever chances he had of a comeback in my opinion.

Swamped at work

SORRY ABOUT THE LIGHT POSTING TODAY, I'M EXTREMELY BUSY. THANKS FOR CHECKING IN.

Hypocrite of the week!

In the most brazen, unashamed display of hypocricy this election year, the Breck Girl actually stated with a straight face that frivolous law suits are partially to blame for the rising level of health care in this country. Bleated the Breck Girl....

"I think that the bulk of the problem is created when cases are filed in the legal system that should never be filed, and the results are years of litigation and costs that are incurred by the health care provider that should not have been incurred," Edwards said. "A lot of that responsibility goes to the lawyers."

He wants to require two medical professionals to sign off on any claim before it is filed.

That's not a bad idea as long as the medical professionals on the panel are actual practicing doctors and not political appointees.

The shocking thing about his statement however, is that he is one of the biggest abusers of the frivolous law-suit tactic of personal enrichment in America. John Edwards personally raped the system of tens of millions of dollars by suing doctors and hospitals in North Carolina courts, using phoney "medical" data to tug at the heart-strings of stupid morons who served as jurors. Because of his ridiculous law suits, hospitals and doctors dramatically ramped up their malpractice insurance to the point that many of them had to abandon the practice of medicine and find other lines of work. It's been shown over and over that what Silky Pony claimed in court was patently false and he knew it was false when he used it to seduce cretins in the jury box to award him millions of other peoples' dollars.

He's comically far behind in the presidential polls now and we can relax and poke some fun. Let's just hope Hillary doesn't tap him for VP.

The Clinton spin machine

Just in case you've managed to wash out the foul taste of the Clinton years, here's a little tidbit to remind you of what we put up with for 8 years and will for 8 more if Hillary gets elected queen...

Early this summer, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign for president learned that the men’s magazine GQ was working on a story the campaign was sure to hate: an account of infighting in Hillaryland.

So Clinton’s aides pulled a page from the book of Hollywood publicists and offered GQ a stark choice: Kill the piece, or lose access to planned celebrity coverboy Bill Clinton.

That's right. Eight more years of media bowing to threats from the Clinton machine, over-the-top favorable coverage, and fawning, worshipful reports on TV. Just sitting here thinking about it made me vomit a little bit in my mouth.

The Snake is in The HenHouse.............by Reid

Today our country took another dreadful step towards seeing its own demise. Columbia University allowed a 2-bit dictator to stand and spew forth a venom that is completely and diametrically opposite to any type of freedom or democracy espoused by this country. This man has utilized military weapons to kill our soldiers, he has and is harboring terrorist cells, and is a voice stirring up anti-American sentiment around the world. Many arguments can be made, but in a nutshell, "Abu Johnny" should have not been allowed to speak ( except at his U.N. designated speech tomorrow).
I am all for Freedom of Speech. I state that, because many are arguing that this is his right. WRONG!! He is not guaranteed any of the freedoms that Americans have. He is a thug and a leader of a tyrannical nation hell-bent on destroying this country. He deserves and should receive nothing; no Press coverage period. Mahmoud has chosen not to answer questions posed at him, foregoing those answers to post his own agenda. This should not happen. How do we think parents of soldiers killed in Iran feel at the "red carpet" treatment given to AJ.
Some will argue that free discourse of thought is the reason for his speaking engagement. Again, nice try, but wrong. For free discourse to take place, thoughts must be exchanged. Allowing the man to not answer a question but to attack our ideals and principles on our soil is again not as it was intended. I have heard that many Columbia alumni are withdrawing university financial support. Good. Maybe they can eliminate the university president as well. How can the parents of students in this school truthfully feel good about their children's welfare as this idiot brings in speakers like this. Might as well get Charles Manson to come on a recruiting trip soon.
Lastly, an argument can be made that it was solely for educational purposes. Once again, this is a poorly veiled argument. Abu-Johnny was coming to the U.N. he also came for the chance to attract attention as he was given access to some of the brightest young minds in the college world today. Lets just give him the key to the pantry as well. We can then try to figure out where our food is when he's gone.
We are spiralling downward in a rapid pace. The morals have decayed badly, our society stands by and watches and does nothing. We allow all that our forefathers believed in to be trampled. We cannot even agree to uphold principles found within our constitution and the statement of declaring our own countries independence. It seems odd that men seeking to protect freedom now reside in other countries. Woe to us as we stand idly by and watch our own demise. Lets stop the slide now, 1 voice at a time.

New Ann Coulter book!!!

I was going to wait 'till Ann Coulter Thursday to announce her new book but I'll have to review her latest column too...and that might be more Ann Coulter than you can stand. I haven't picked it up yet but I will soon and review it here at TRR. Here are a few gems of Ann's from the book...

• Her politics: “As far as I’m concerned, I’m a middle-of-the-road moderate and the rest of you are crazy.”
• Hillary Clinton: “Hillary wants to be the first woman president, which would also make her the first woman in a Clinton administration to sit behind the desk in the Oval Office instead of under it.”
• The environment: “God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, ‘Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It’s yours.’”
• Religion: “It’s become increasingly difficult to distinguish the pronouncements of the Episcopal Church from the latest Madonna video.”
• Global warming: “The temperature of the planet has increased about one degree Fahrenheit in the last century. So imagine a summer afternoon when it’s 63 degrees and the next thing you know it’s . . . 64 degrees. Ahhhh!!!! Run for your lives, everybody! Women and children first!”
• Gun control: “Mass murderers apparently can’t read, since they are constantly shooting up ‘gun-free zones.’”
• Bill Clinton: “Bill Clinton’s library is the first one to ever feature an Adults Only section.”
• Illegal aliens: “I am the illegal alien of commentary. I will do the jokes that no one else will do.”

Labor unions....bad for America

The United Auto Workers are once again threatenting to hold the struggling American auto industry hostage for a bunch of "benefits" they don't deserve. If they don't get their way they are supposed to walk off the assembly lines at 11:00 today. Name another industry in which you can demand and get absurdly generous retirement packages and health care coverage until you die, exorbitant salaries far above what the labor market would otherwise bear, and no-fault job security? General Motors, and all other U.S. auto makers, have become little more than retirement benefit providers. Here's an exerpt from an article over at National Review about how out of whack the labor union contracts are...

Take grass cutting. As defined by the current United Auto Worker contract negotiated with the "Big Five" (GM, Ford, Chrysler, and top parts makers Delphi and Visteon), an auto "production worker" is a job description that covers anything from mowing grass to cleaning the toilets. In the real world, these jobs would be outsourced to $8 an hour, no-benefit wage earners, but on Planet Big Five, these jobs get the same wages as any auto line-worker: an average $26 an hour ($60,000 a year) plus benefits that bring the company's total cost per worker to a staggering $65 an hour.

But at least the grass cutters are working for their pay. The UAW contract also guarantees that 12,000 autoworkers get full wage for doing nothing. On the heels of Miller's straight-talk, the Detroit News reported that "12,000 American autoworkers, instead of bending sheet metal, spend their days counting the hours in a jobs bank." These aren't jobs. And they certainly aren't being "lost" to China.

"We just go in (to Ford's Michigan Truck Plant) and play crossword puzzles, watch videos that someone brings in or read the newspaper," The News quoted one UAW worker as saying. "Otherwise, I've just sat."

One blue-collar Delphi worker interviewed by the Detroit News makes $103,000 a year operating a forklift and fears the consequences if his pay is drastically reduced. But many Americans will ask how a forklift operator felt entitled to a six-figure income in the first place (according to Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average forklift operator wage in the U.S. is $26,000).

See? Labor unions are disastrous for American car companies. How are our guys supposed to compete when the Japanese, Korean, and others don't have to wrangle with greedy, thug union bosses over guaranteed, absurdly high wages, pensions, and health benefits? In Japan, the labor market functions like any other commodity market. That's why their cars are affordable and their companies are profitable. Our labor unions will surely bankrupt the auto industry as they almost did the airline industry. In order to remain competitive in the global marketplace, we need to free our businesses to compete in a free market.

One last thing: voting for a democrat next November is a vote for a stronger stranglehold for union bosses around the throats of American industry, crippling it still further.

It's Friday!

Ok kids, it's Friday, you know the drill. I or Reid may post something interesting over the weekend but until then, consider this an open thread and discuss anything you like. I'll get things started with a topic: OJ:

-Will he be convicted?
-Will he get off?
-Will he skip bail?
-What will his punishment be if convicted?
-Will Fred Goldman get to OJ's hidden offshore accounts?
-Does anybody care at this point?

Would somebody please answer the phone?

How can a nation full of intelligent, educated, industrious people paradoxically co-exist with mindless zealots who believe in a monkey god?

CHENNAI, India (AFP) — A state leader in India has dismissed a deity worshipped by millions as a "big lie", deepening a highly sensitive row over plans to dredge a shipping lane through an area sacred to Hindus.

The shipping project involves dredging a lane through Adam's bridge, a chain of islands between India and Sri Lanka. At the moment, ships moving between the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal also need to travel around Sri Lanka.

The Hindu epic Ramayana says the geographic feature was built by an army of monkeys to allow the god Ram to cross the narrow strip of sea and rescue his kidnapped wife from a demon.

So this is why I haven't been able to get through to tech support.....they're all out protesting on behalf of their monkey god.

Bad news for world's eco-freaks

The whole ridiculous argument by environmental radicals that global warming is destroying the precious rain forests seems to be in jeopardy this morning...

Climate change may lead to lush growth rather than catastrophic tree loss in the Amazonian forests, researchers from the US and Brazil have found. A study, in the journal Science, found that reduced rainfall had led to greener forests, possibly because sunlight levels are higher when there are fewer rainclouds.

Al Gore and his idolatrous, Gaia-worshiping, eco-drones can't have it both ways. Either climate change is good, or it's bad. Either it helps the rain forests or it hurts the rain forests. Which is it? There is another possibility, maybe climate change is neither. Maybe it's just the normal part of the Earth's climate cycle. But you'll never hear them consider that possibility because doing so would eliminate the basis upon which their plans to cripple the the U.S. economy lie.

You want to know the real threat to the rain forests? Ethanol fuel. That's right. Mindless politicians from both parties are jumping on the politically popular, but economically disastrous, ethanol craze. As a result, corn futures have sky-rocketed in anticipation of higher demand. Consequently, farmers around the world are abandoning crops like soy bean, wheat, and other food crops in order to plant the more lucrative crop, corn. Farmers in South America are razing Amazonian rain forests at a record pace to create farm land for corn.

The worst thing is that ethanol is a horribly inefficient fuel, and nobody wants it. Politicians are forcing it down our throats to appease people like Al Gore and his brain-dead followers.

nationalized health care....an abject failure

I hope you people check out the article links I post here. I don't do it for fun, these articles make the points that I try to make, only much better than I can. This one concerning nationalized health-care by TRR fav John Stossel, is a must read. Check it out here.

The Islamification of America

The Indianapolis airport has joined several other airports and universities in installing footbaths, at taxpayer expense, for Muslims to use in preparation for their prayers.

Footbaths? Are you freaking kidding me? What's next, no pork products in the airports? The food court is closed during Ramadan so Muslims aren't tempted? Forbidden references to Christianity so as not to offend Muslim passengers? Flight attendants wearing the hijab so as not to tempt male Muslims into raping them? Taxpayer funded prayer rugs so Muslims can properly pray to their idol before blowing up the plane? Government mandated footbaths in every office building and school? You think I'm over reacting? Then you're sitting on your own shoulders.

When does the humiliating dhimmitude of America end? It ends only when somebody stands up and says, ENOUGH!!!

Coming to an airport near you.

The way to stop this is for regular Americans to stage massive foot-washings at each Muslim prayer time, effectively preventing any Muslims from using the baths. The airport can't stop non-Muslims from using them and this would illustrate the absurdity of this idea.

Note: if you are unfamiliar with the term dhimmitude, Google it and learn it because you'll be hearing it alot from now on until our idiotic leaders grow a collective spine and stop bending over backwards to make Muslims like us. They will never like us, because we aren't Muslim. The utter stupidity of the people who make decisions like this knows no bounds.

Aarrrgh!!!

Avast, ye scurvy bilge rats! It's National Talk Like a Pirate Day.

On this fine day, everyone can talk like a pirate all day long. ‘Tis a fine way t’be speakin’, and if ye’ disagree I may make ye’ walk the ol’ plank. If ye don't know what to say to landlubbers today, here's a few pick-up lines to use...

For scurvy lads...

Avast, me buxom beauty! Wanna know why my Roger is so Jolly?

Yes, that is a hornpipe in my pocket and I am happy to see you.

How'd you like to scrape the barnacles off of me rudder?

Ya know, darlin’, I’m 97 percent chum free.

Prepare to be boarded.

And for the lasses...

Come show me how ye bury yer treasure, lad!

So, tell me, why do they call ye, "Cap'n Feathersword?"

That's quite a cutlass ye got thar, what ye need is a good scabbard!

Aye, I guarantee ye, I've had a twenty percent decrease in me "lice ratio!"

I've crushed seventeen men's skulls between me thighs!

C'mon, lad, shiver me timbers!

So most of those are probably not work-appropriate, so be sure to try them out on people who have a sense of humor and not those cry-baby bores who'll certainly go whining to the HR department about you. Have fun.

Hillary Care v2.0

Hillary Clinton unveiled her scheme to bring the entire population of the U.S. under direct government control yesterday. The short and sweet is that every American (for Hillary this includes illegals) will be required to purchase government provided health care. The tax-payer funded price tag for Hillary's socialism odyssey is about $110billion. Guess from whose pockets that will come? That's right. Your pockets. Hillary will use the force of the federal government to seize wealth from those who earn it and use it to pay for insurance policies for those who can't afford one.

"But Ed", you whine, "Like Canada, Great Britain, and Cuba, our health care will be much cheaper and everybody will have access...especially the children....we can't forget about the children can we Ed?"

Silly, ignorant, government-school educated reader. First of all, no where in the Constitution does it provide for the government to force private citizens to purchase anything...no where. This Hillary-Care is un-Constitutional from the git-go.
Second, when you artificially reduce the price of something, then demand for that thing goes up proportionally. You will have people running for the nearest doctor for the smallest of ailments because it's very cheap or for many hand-out, government cheese Americans, free. What happens when demand goes up but supply and price stay the same? That's right. Shortages! Just like in Canada, Great Britain, and Cuba. Long lines for basic care. Months long waiting lists for basic diagnostics procedures that you can get in hours or days now.

Lastly, here's the other cost that Hillary doesn't want you to know about: the quality of care will rapidly diminish under government-run health care. In order to provide cheap care for everybody, the government will limit costs by dictating doctor's wages. It's what they do in Canada and Great Britain. Well guess what? The best and brightest minds choose architecture, or engineering, or business instead of medicine because they can make better livings at those things.

Which would you rather have: a brilliant cardio-thoracic surgeon who competed for and negotiated a $2million a year salary because he's worth it, saving your life, or some guy who settled for being a doctor because he wasn't smart enough to do something that earned him a better living? If your answer to that question is "some guy" then you are a moron and Hillary-Care is for you.

When are you people going to get it? When government controls the market, everybody loses, except the people running the government. It is unfathomable to me that this woman might be our next president!!!

Publicity hogs?

Is it just me or are you as tired of hearing from the Goldman family as I am? When was the last time you saw a grieving family keep themselves in the spotlight for over 10 years since their particular tragedy? The four 9/11 widows from Jersey tried but only made it like 5 years. It was less than a day after OJ's arrest in Vegas that Fred Goldman was crybabying on TV about sueing to get all of OJ's memorabilia so he can sell it to get some more money, and he went on Oprah the other day do hawk If I Did It, OJ's hypothetical narrative.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - If the Goldman family has its way, it may soon own the sports memorabilia that O.J. Simpson is accused of committing armed robbery to recover for himself. The family plans to file a request in Superior Court today to obtain ownership of the memorabilia seized.
Since winning a multimillion-dollar settlement against Simpson in Ron Goldman's death, the family has waged a decade-long campaign to track down and claim Simpson's assets.

They are giving off a publicity-hog kind of a vibe to me. I don't think it's about avenging Ron's death any more as much as it is about staying in the media spotlight, getting interviewed by Greta every other week, and parlaying every aspect of Ron's death into as much money as possible while they're at it.

Was Nicole enjoying an expensive condo, nice car, and extravagant life style paid for by OJ? Yes.
Was OJ understandably enraged by her fooling around with the cheesey waiter Ron Goldman while he paid for it? Probably.
Did Ron and Nicole deserve to get hacked to death? No.
Did the Goldman's and Brown's deserve some of OJ's wealth? Certainly.
Is Fred Goldman enjoying his fifteen minutes of fame just a little too much? Count on it.

If you don't read anything else today...read this

Circumspect reader David sent this to me today and I thought it was the most concise, clear explanation of how the U.S. tax system works to subvert achievement and punish success. Give this little story a read and then defend to me the current progressive tax structure under which we toil today...

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.

If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until on day, the owner threw them a curve.

"Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20. "Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer.

So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh know pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before and the first four continued to drink for free, but once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. "I only got a dollar out of the $20, "declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man," but he got $10!"

"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got TEN times more than I!" "That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I
got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get
anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D.
Professor of Economics
University of Georgia

"For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible!"

If you were shocked, shocked to find out how our tax system punishes the successful and rewards the shiftless, then 1, you probably attended government schools where you gained self esteem but learned nothing, and 2, you need to support the FairTax or at least a flat tax in some form.

Fun with the cable company

So this weekend were watching the Auburn game. It is cloudless, windless, and 80degrees when out of the blue, a Hickory tree in our back yard falls over snapping the power, phone, and cable lines. We call all three utilities and only the cable company (Charter) says they'll be right out. Well the power and phone guys show up in like an hour and take care of their business but no word from Charter. After many pointless phone calls by us and unkept promises by them, here it is Monday morning and still no cable. We're supposedly on the list for between 8-10...I won't hold my breath.

Here's what I think is going on: The phone companies are under increased pressure from cell phones to keep business so they maintain good customer service. The power company, though we can't get power anywhere else, for some reason seem to pride themselves on prompt, curteous customer service(they promised us power by 3:30 and at exactly 3:30 the lights came on. We were impressed.) Charter cable, on the other hand, is the absolute worst company in the world. I think they have fired DMV employees working customer service there. You can't get the same answer from any two people, and they refuse to guarantee anything other than, "We'll try to get to you on Monday between 8-5. Make sure somebody's home." They just don't care at all, and seem to be irritated that a customer would call and complain about something. Their On-Demand service blows. Sometimes you can't even order a movie and then when you get one, it frequently stops in the middle and you can't recover it without starting over....then they double-bill you. I've had it up to here(ed holds flat hand up to eye balls) with Charter!

I'm convinced Charter Cable is housed in a facility like this one.

Barbarella....still crazy after all these years

Over at Moonbattery they have a piece on Hanoi Jane Fonda that's pretty funny. Here's the gist of it...

Not being satisfied with committing treason during Vietnam, Hanoi Jane Fonda made the farcically comical, hysteria movie called The China Syndrome. It basically tricked a gullible America into believing that nuclear energy was bad and would be the death of us all. As a direct result of that movie and her wild-eyed support of the anti-nuke movement, the nuclear industry basically gave up and has not built another plant to this day. The effects of that are extraordinarily high gas and heating oil prices and untold amounts of CO2 in the atmosphere that but for Jane, would not be there. (Of course I couldn't care less about atmospheric CO2 as I don't buy into the absurd global warming fantasy. But if you do, then Jane should be public enemy #1) If the nuclear industry had proceded as normal, the U.S. would be consuming far, far less petroleum products and relying on clean, renewable nuclear power instead. That would mean lower prices for gasoline and heating oil because demand would be lower, and much less pollution because nuclear power generates no CO2.

But you won't hear a peep from the unsufferable Al Gore, the other Hollywood nitwits, or the complicit main stream media, because she's driving around in her stupid, politically correct bio-deisel bus telling all us little people how to live our lives as if it were the 17th century.

Hanoi Jane Fonda is criminally wrong on many levels. She's a traitor to her country, a liar to the American people, and the cause of countless tons of pollution. Tell me again why she still gets attentiion?

Weekend posting

OK kids, it's the weekend and you know the drill. If there's something on your mind you'd like to share with the group, put it here in the comments section. If there's a question you'd like to ask me, leave it here and I'll address it ASAP. Otherwise consider this an open thread and discuss anything you like.

Jimmy Carter's legacy of misery continues...

Think I'm just bloviating about Jimmy Carter being the absolute worst, disaster of a President in U.S. history? The ascendancy of Robert Mugabe, by far Africa's most brutal, murdering dictator and best friend of Jimmy, to the presidency of Zimbabwe is the direct result of Carter's nullification of free elections in what was known as Rhodesia. Read this and weep for the victims of Carter's meddling and support of Mugabe...

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Pets are being slaughtered for meat in shortage-stricken Zimbabwe and record numbers of animals have been surrendered to shelters or abandoned by owners no longer able to feed them, according to animal welfare groups.

One animal rights activist, who asked not to be named out of fear of arrest, called the situation "too ghastly for words.

Activists say they have been threatened with arrest for speaking out and SPCA offices were raided by secret police agents of the Central Intelligence Organization on Thursday. SPCA inspectors said they were ordered not to release details of surrendered, abandoned, slain or eaten pets.

In Zimbabwe's economic meltdown, meat, cornmeal, bread and other staples have vanished from shops and stores. A government order to slash prices of all goods and services in June worsened acute food shortages and has left stores virtually empty of basic foodstuffs.

The prices clampdown aimed to tame official inflation of more than 7,600 percent, the highest in the world. Independent estimates put real inflation closer to 25,000 percent and the International Monetary Fund has forecast it reaching 100,000 percent by the end of the year.

Zimbabwe used to be the bread-basket of Africa. It produced so much food that it exported most of it and fed dozens of other poor African nations. Then in 1980, thug, terrorist Robert Mugabe seized control of the country with the help of Jimmy Carter. Mugabe ordered the murder of tens of thousands of rival tribe members, the rapes of thousands of relatives of rival politicians, and the nationalization of all white owned farms(most were white-owned). He then gave the farms to his thug buddies who knew nothing of farming. Predictably, the food supply quickly ran out, and Zimbabwe was plunged into the abyss of starvation, genocide, and despair...all with the help of one man without whom, none of it would have happened....Jimmy Carter the lovable peanut-president.

Thanks to Jimmy Carter, Fido here is now on the menu for starving Zimbabweans.

Those pesky, pot-stirring Russians

These recent developments should be of particular interest to circumspect reader, military man, and emissary-of-goodwill to a former Soviet bloc country, David...

Norwegian and British fighter jets were scrambled to intercept Russian bombers over the north Atlantic, the latest in a series of such incidents, Norway's military command said Friday.
Two Russian Tupolev-160 bombers or "Blackjacks" were detected by the NATO allies flying along the Norwegian coast before passing by northern Scotland, a military spokesman told AFP.

"We dispatched two F-16s from Bodoe airbase (in the north of Norway) to identify them," Lieutenant-Colonel Jon Inge Oegland said, adding that Britain had also sent aircraft.

"It conforms with the declarations of (Russian) president (Vladmir) Putin and we are expecting more such flights in the future."

While I'm not opposed to another Cold War(A cold war every now and then keeps our military/industrial complex sharp), we really should ask the Russians to wait until we're finished in Iraq before they start flying around provoking sovereign nations and generally scaring the crap out of everybody. And frankly, we can't afford a massive military build up right now. They should give us like two years to extricate ourselves from Iraq and then assuming we're not kicking the crap out of Iran too by then, we'll be glad to mix it up again with our old foes the Ruskies.

John Howard for President!!!

Prime Minister John Howard - Australia

Circumspect reader David sent this to me and I thought it would be refreshing to show you a world leader who says all the things we conservative Americans are thinking. It appears to be a long speech but you'll fly through it in about a minute...cheering all the way...

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Quote(Major): "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians."

"However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia ." "However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle."

"This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom"

"We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!"

"Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture."

"We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us."

"If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others.

"This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'."

"If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted."

How satisfying would it be to have a politician from either party in the U.S. say exactly this? Tragically for America, ALL our politicians are in the grip of multicultural political correctness and would never say anything so insensitive and nationalistic. Astute reader Kevin hinted earlier this week about looking for a different place to rear kids and pay taxes. Well Kev, Australia is looking better and better, ain't it?

See, I have a sensitive side

You all know what a cynical jerk I am in general. Empathy and concern for fellow creatures is not one of my strong suits. That being said, this picture was irresistable...

They're an odd couple in every sense but a monkey and a pigeon have become inseparable at an animal sanctuary in China.
The 12-week-old macaque - who was abandoned by his mother - was close to death when it was rescued on Neilingding Island, in Goangdong Province.

After being taken to an animal hospital his health began to improve but he seemed spiritless - until he developed a friendship with a white pigeon.

Go ahead, finish wiping your eyes and blowing your nose, and then make fun if you want. See if I care.

It's Ann Coulter Thursday!

This week Ann blasts gutless democrats for their craven desire for the U.S. to lose in Iraq. Their vested interest in America's defeat is treacherous, bordering on treasonous. Here's the line that sums it up best...

If liberals are not traitors, their only fallback argument at this point is that they're really stupid.

You can read the whole thing here.

Multiculturalism will destroy America

In keeping with the current thread on this blog, I thought this story was interesting, and by interesting I mean disgusting...

SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. – On the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, students at one high school were not allowed to wear clothes with an American Flag.

Under a new school rule, students at Hobbton High School are not allowed to wear items with flags, from any country, including the United States.

The new rule stems from a controversy over students wearing shirts bearing flags of other countries.

Gayle Langston said her daughter, Jessica, was told to remove her stars and stripes t-shirt.

“Today she wanted to wear her shirt, and I had to tell her no,” said Langston. “She didn't like it at all because I knew it would get her in trouble. Of all days, 9/11, she could not wear her American Flag shirt.”

The superintendent of schools in Sampson County calls the situation unfortunate, but says educators didn’t want to be forced to pick and choose which flags should be permissible.

First, what's wrong with a student wearing the flag of any country in the world? I don't have a problem with that. And second, even if you ban all flags, an exception should certainly be made on specific national celebration or remembrance days for the American flag. I've said it before and I'll say it again, when a country starts denying it's own culture and sense of patriotism to avoid possibly offending someone from a different culture, then we have almost ceased being a country.

UPDATE: SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C – A North Carolina High School that came under national attention over their rule that prohibited students from wearing items with the American flag, or any flag from other countries, has lifted the ban.

Well kids, it looks like the magic of market pressure worked once again, swiftly and with precision, because the people applied the pressure and not the government.

Blast from the past

As most of you know, I spent sixteen years in the Georgia Air National Guard before getting out by way of an early retirement program. I left for basic training in San Antonio about 5 days after graduating high school and the next sixteen years spending one weekend a month at Dobbins AFB in Atlanta loading bombs and missiles on fighter planes. We took some mighty cool trips for extended training as well. TRR reader and contributor David was a bud of mine in the Weapons Loading shop of the Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron(CAMS is on our hats) of the 116th Tactical Fighter Squadron. He sent this picture to me this morning that another friend of ours had come across from back in 1986. There I am in the front row, fourth from the right. (If you click on the picture it'll get much bigger). David is standing behind me, one man to my right.

The plane on the left is an F-16 Falcon (we never worked on those). The one in the middle is the F-4 Phantom, the workhorse of Vietnam and the plane we were loading on in '86, and the F-15 Eagle on the right to which we were converting at the time. You can see AIM-9 Sidewinder heat-seekers on the wing pylons of the F-4 and F-15. You can also see one AIM-7 Sparrow, a radar guided air-to-air missile on the inboard launcher of the F-15.

I just thought I'd throw this picture out there so you would get an idea about a formative part of my life and know that it contributed to shaping my thoughts and opinions today.

Man, even from here I can see how much younger I look....thanks for that David.

Democrat treachery

Democrats have a long and embarrassing record of siding with the sworn enemies of freedom, peace, and the U.S. The names Fonda, Kerry, Clinton, and Carter come to mind as they are the rock-stars of their Party.

We've also all come to the sad realization that the current political interests of the Democrat Party are identical to the interests of Al Qaida. Their talking points are indistinguishable. Both have a vested interest in our defeat in Iraq. Both accuse American soldiers of rampant human rights violations. Both think America is a fundamentally evil nation and want to change it. And both are quick to side with our enemies. This brings me to Dennis Kucinich. You'll recall that Syria is a prime state sponsor of terrorism, second only to Iran. They are violently opposed to the existence of Israel, and they directly fund terrorist operations in Iraq which cost American soldiers their lives every day. With that in mind, consider this statement by the comically elfish Kucinich as he spoke recently on Syrian national TV..."I feel the United States is engaging in an illegal occupation."

Somebody please explain how this is not outright treason for Kucinich to give aid and comfort to our enemy in a time of war. Syria is directly funding the killing of Americans in Iraq and this nut encourages them by condemning his own country. He should be arrested immediately upon stepping foot back on U.S. soil and sent to Leavenworth to bust rocks for the next 20 years...that is if he's not hung by the neck at the next sunrise(though he's so small his body weight is probably not enough to break his neck so busting rocks is probably a better punishment). But you won't hear a peep out of the democrats or the media over this because he's attacking George Bush and anything goes, no matter how treasonous or despicable, as long as it fits the political template of "bad for Bush". The democrats are a loathsome collection of self-serving America haters, and the media love them for it. Heaven help us if one of them gets in the White House in Jan. of '09.

Here's the Keebler Elf now, draped in the Mexican flag, posing with his smelly-hippie wife.

Where have all the cowboys gone?

Nanny state bureaucrats are never happy with the decisions made by the free market. If they aren't politically correct decisions, then legislation mandating the "correct" choice is called for. That's the case in the land of half-witted hippies, California. It seems that Californians aren't making the "correct" dieting decisions so that choice will be taken away...

As America gets fatter, policymakers are seeking creative approaches to legislating health. They may have entered the school cafeteria -- and now they're eyeing your neighborhood.

Amid worries of an obesity epidemic and its related illnesses, including high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease, Los Angeles officials, among others around the country, are proposing to limit new fast-food restaurants -- a tactic that could be called health zoning.

Look, I support providing only healthy food choices for kids in school cafeterias. They're kids. They can't be trusted to make good diet choices. But adults should be free to make whatever idiotic food choices they decide on. If an adult wants to eat a triple with cheese every day for 5 years and then dies of coronary disease at 49, who cares? As adults, we're free to make stupid choices. Besides, practically every fast-food joint offers a healthy version of their menu. It tastes like crap and is unsatisfying but it is available. Lawmakers should not be in the business of regulating market corrections regarding perfectly legitimate business practices. The market place will determine where fast-food joint set up shop. If a neighborhood collectively decides that it wants healthy food, those people will eat elsewhere and McDonald's will move to where it can make money. Nobody wants pencil-necked diet police telling us we're not allowed access to hamburgers.

This is another example in the long, sad list of examples of creeping, nanny-state, socialism that infests governments and lazy, distracted communities these days. Your legislators know more about how you should live your life than you do, and they are going to make your decisions for you, for your own good, whether you like it or not. And pathetically, far too many Americans are willing to cede responsibility for themselves over to the government so they don't have to do anything more than scratch their stomachs and watch MTV.

Fast food--the new pariah of nanny-state socialism.

The pioneer spirit of self determination and self reliance that built this country is mostly a distant memory...disappeared down the stinking rat hole of willing dependence and subjugation. It's as embarrassing as it is sad!

The jokes will just have to write themselves

I know everybody sat on their couches last night in breathless anticipation of Britney's "comeback" at the MTV music video awards. Well, let's just say it was a tad less than stellar. I'm not even going to make any jokes...she's too easy a target. Like Paris and Lindsay, they're such sad, pathetic, wastes of human space that they are not satisfying to ridicule any longer. So that's all I'm going to say about her, or them. Feel free to write your own jokes in the comments section.

Oh, OK. One joke... This morning my wife and I were riding in listening to the traffic reporter talk about a terrible crash on the interstate somewhere but there was no driver. My wife said, "A terrible crash with no driver...are they talking about traffic or Britney's performance last night?"

That's it. I'm done.

We are not all John Wayne Gaseys

It's a sad day in America when this is the case...

These days, if Rian Romoli accidentally bumps into a child, he quickly raises his hands above his shoulders. "I don't want to give even the slightest indication that any inadvertent touching occurred," says Mr. Romoli, an economist in La Cañada Flintridge, Calif.

Ted Wallis, a doctor in Austin, Texas, recently came upon a lost child in tears in a mall. His first instinct was to help, but he feared people might consider him a predator. He walked away. "Being male," he explains, "I am guilty until proven innocent."

In San Diego, retiree Ralph Castro says he won't allow himself to be alone with a child -- even in an elevator.

I have to admit, I'm the same way. I go out of my way to avoid being alone with any young person. When I'm in the vacinity of children, not my own, I'm aware of any inadvertant touching or even proximity to a child that could be misconstrued by a hysterical, suspicious, sue-happy parent. The sad thing is that statistically, hundreds of times more kids are mistreated and molested by family members than by strangers, and that statistically, strangers are far more likely to have your child's best interests at heart.

That is not to pretend that there aren't dangers out there. We hear about them every day. And most of the predators are men. But we make the mistake of assuming all men are potential predators. Our society goes out of it's way to not profile distinguishable groups who are clearly criminal. Why doesn't that apply to men when it comes to society's assumption that we are all potential molestors?

Are you like totally hot?

Stop the presses: Paris says she's planning on having a baby next year. The name of the reality show featuring the process will tentatively be called, "Who Wants to Knock-Up Paris?". The airhead squeaked...

"I just started working out and it feels great. It gives me so much energy," she said. "I want kids next year, so I've got to get my body ready."

If you think you want to be the actor/father...er, uh, I mean donor, there's an online application you can fill out. According to Paris you have to be funny, smart, comfortable being intimate on camera, a Libra or Virgo, and like totally hot. If you think you're the one for her, then head on over to YesParis_I'mLikeTotallyHot.com and enter your name, cell number, and a 300-dpi digital photo of yourself shirtless in the space provided. If you get selected be sure to shamelessly plug TheRightRant on the show, because you heard it here first.

What is this?

All right, Dave sent me these pictures this morning. I'm sure they're floating all over the web. The caption says they were taken in Africa somewhere. Does anybody recognize this species? It's pretty good if it was photoshopped.

It's Ann Coulter Thursday!

This week Ann exposes the outrageous hypocrisy of the Left toward homosexuals, with all the sarcasm and wit we expect in an Ann Coulter column. Here's a great line...

They call Larry Craig a "deviant" based on accusations that he attempted to solicit sex in a public bathroom -– and then ferociously attack efforts to prevent people from having sex in public bathrooms.

You can read the whole thing here.

Terror in the skies...save yourselves!!!

I know the media is absolutely freaking out over the B-52 that flew from North Dakota to Louisianna on 30Aug with 5 nukes that were mistakenly put aboard.

The Air Force should be keeping up with it's nukes like my son keeps up with his text messages.

Of course the Air Force really should be keeping tabs on their arsenal of nuclear weapons...we might need them when Iran's Ahma-dinnerjacket needs putting down in a year or two. Seriously though, I used to load weapons on Air Force jets for 16 years and this sort of thing should never have happened. There are so many checks and controls when conventional weapons are being handled. Imagine when they are nukes. I've got a call in to regular reader and occasional contributer "David" who is my good friend from the Air Force. He's still serving so maybe he can shed some light on this matter.

Couple of questions: How, if we're not supposed to be flying nukes in accordance with our treaty with Russia, did a plane with nukes get assigned a flight crew, take fuel, taxi, and take-off without anybody noticing?

The chain of people who handle a B-52 prior to take-off is staggering. How did they all miss the nukes. (In their defense, training munitions look and act like real munitions in every way except for a slightly different color scheme on some parts.)

How did a three-man flight crew miss the fact that those weapons were not training weapons during the pre-flight walk-around?

The Air Force load crews practice loading live nukes every day, however, knowing that it won't be flying, that plane is usually cordoned off somewhere. Not on the flight line with active flyers.

I am really curious to hear the final step-by-step recount of how this happened.

"The View" Must go Unseen

The View has its new "controversial" voice now as Whoopi Goldberg took the stage and screen yesterday. She wasted no time in stepping in a pile of manure as she vehemently defended Michael Vick. I will paraphrase some comments. "He is from the south where dog fighting is okay. Its like cock fighting in Puerto Rico". "He was shocked to find that this was not acceptable in other parts of the country". HORSE HOCKEY MS. GOLDBERG !!!
I live in the deep south and have never thought that dog or cock fighting was acceptable. Does it go on, yes, but it still is not an good way to spend ones leisure hours. Vick is from Virginia , ma'am. That is obviously not the same south that I live in, if dog fighting is okay there. Please take your liberal and racist defense of this man and go away quickly and quietly. This country does not need you doing any further damage than you have already done. How can you morally and righteously defend these actions? I guess it stems from your gutter mind, wayward lifestyle and your lack of character. If Michael Vick needing defending, then those who make money off of his football talents would have led the charge. The are noticeably silent as we speak. All have said what he did was wrong and have shown him no support at all. Actually many of his life support lines have been severed to distance him from what normal society views as acceptable. Where do you get off with your pious attitude and your moral outrage at this despicable act? Please go away. Go quickly and quietly into the night and slink back to whatever rock you crawled out from under. Years ago you were funny. Now you seem pathetic and in need of an attention fix.
Michael Vick supported a horrible industry, He was caught and will face the music for his behavior. He made a horrible mistake, unfortunately his poor judgement has and will cost him huge sums financially. Too bad. Time to move on. I just hope that NBC will rethink their position on this show and let it die - and die quickly.

Michigan's Buckner moment

Here are my favorite lines from Jim Rome's show making fun of Michigan losing to App. State...

-Dear Jim, how do we go about signing Michigan for next year? Signed...DeVry Institute.

-Dear Jim, if I wasn't dead already, this would have done it. Signed...Bo Shembeckler.

-Dear Jim, undefeated lives here! Signed...Boone, North Carolina.

-Dear Jim, I am not interested in the Michigan job. Signed...Nick Saban.

-Dear Jim, tell everybody to stay off Lloyd Carr's back and stop calling for him to be fired. Let the man coach. Signed...Ohio State fans, players, and alums.

The ridicule and piling on just keeps going and going. I'm telling you, this will haunt anybody associated with the '07 Wolverine team for the rest of their lives.

Everybody, equal in misery

If elected, the Breck Girl plans to plunge the American health-care consumer into a disasterously abysmal system like that of Canada, the U.K., and Cuba...

TIPTON, Iowa - Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards said on Sunday that his universal health care proposal would require that Americans go to the doctor for preventive care.

"It requires that everybody be covered. It requires that everybody get preventive care," he told a crowd sitting in lawn chairs in front of the Cedar County Courthouse. "If you are going to be in the system, you can't choose not to go to the doctor for 20 years. You have to go in and be checked and make sure that you are OK."

Edwards said his mandatory health care plan would cover preventive, chronic and long-term health care. The plan would include mental health care as well as dental and vision coverage for all Americans.

"The whole idea is a continuum of care, basically from birth to death," he said.

Edwards said his plan would cost up to $120 billion a year, a cost he proposes covering by ending President Bush's tax cuts to people who make more than $200,000 per year.

Disappointingly, far too many Americans are perfectly willing to cede responsibility for their own health-care over to mindless government bureaucrats. If you are one of those sheep-like, submissive, dependent Americans who are planning to vote democrat because you want somebody else to be responsible for you, this is what you'll get...

-extremely long waiting times(months or years) for even basic care
-the very real probability that you will die waiting for cancer treatement, basic surgery, and specialist care
-the likelyhood that a pasty, 4-eyed government bean-counter will determine the appropriate treatment for your illness, rather than your doctor
-the sudden shortage of many life-saving drugs because when the government controls drug costs, there is no motive for drug companies to invent new ones
-sub-standard MD expertise because when the gov't controls how much money doctors make, the best and brightest minds will do something else for a living

Are you starting to get the picture of what Hillary, Obama, and Silky Pony have in store for you? But don't believe me. Google "socialized health care realities" or something similar and see for yourself.

Here's the Breck Girl trying to explain why his family deserves the best care while regular Americans will have to wait months or years for basic care under his new plan.
