“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

It's come to this

This week marks the beginning of the near Constitutional crisis regarding the commerce clause in Article I and the principle of federalism described in the 10th Amendment. Law suits have been filed on behalf of many states including Virginia, Michigan, and Florida among others, by their respective attorneys general challenging the Obama administration's unprecedented power grab via the ominous health care bill.

For those of you who were baby sat in government schools while having your self esteem stroked, and therefor have no ability to think critically nor a working knowledge or understanding of the US Constitution, the 10th Amendment reads simply,

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

This is the essential part of the Constitution that limits the federal government from infringing on the states' rights of self governance in all things other than what's in the Constitution specifically. Without this, there is no limit at all to what the federal government can regulate and control. That's what at stake with this health-care monstrosity. If the courts allow the federal government to force, under threat of punishment, the purchase by private citizens of health care policies, then it can force us to do literally anything it fantasizes is in our best interest. And it will have set a dangerous precedent by centralizing power in Washington, having taken it away from the states.

Additionally, it mandates changes in medicare that will increase dramatically the cost to the states, hundreds of millions each, without the states' permission or agreement. The federal government by threat of force, is dictating to the states, commerce policy that is constitutionally reserved for the states to determine independently.

If you don't see the cliffs edge on which we are poised to fall and the danger to the republic if this health-care bill is allowed to stand, then you are either a dumb Obama voter with your hand out, or a hard-core, America-hating socialist who has nothing but contempt for the Constitution. Either way, that makes you a bad American and you should be ashamed.
